What A Beautiful Part of the Cityscape
The balconies of Colonial Quito really make the city special. Some are modest, simple; some quite elaborate. They are almost always adorned with plants that benefit from the Equatorial sun. Colonial Quito has been compared to New Orleans - both cities are noted for beautiful balconies. Quito, with hilly streets and backdrop of mountains, does not have a New Orleans feel to me - it is unique.
Your correspondent recently spent about an hour walking around Colonial Quito on a Sunday morning just taking random pictures of balconies. A few of these are displayed below - it was difficult to decide which ones to include here.
