The Ecuador Chronicles - 2010-05

On Sunday in Colonial Quito;
                  Automobiles are Not Allowed;
                               Pedestrians, Bicycles Trolleys & Horses

Colonial Quito is a quiet place on Sunday's, and not just because it is a day of rest - automobiles and buses are not allowed throughout most of the Colonial area on Sunday's.  Only the Electric Trolleys run.  It is a great day for Quiteños to enjoy their Colonial City.  There are many people walking through the streets and plazas - and there are bicycles everywhere.

Trolleys, Bicycles, and Horses;
And Smoke and Lightning

On Sunday in Colonial Quito you can move around the City other than walking.  The Electirc Trollys still run, you can ride your bicycle - or you can travel in a horse-drawn carriage.  But if you need a taxi you may have to walk a few blocks.
